Gods Own Junk Yard

This evening I went to the most amazing and inspirational place I've been in a while. Gods own junkyard a shop and museum which houses a multitude of vintage neon and hand made lighting in East London . It was truly spectacular and really inspiring you could even have a cake and a cup of tea and sit in the garden. So pleased I went their and met my friend it was worth the mission to get there this evening.

Some people may wonder what do I do?

This is a little project, I've been working on for an event which took place today. Some people may wonder what do I do? Well as well making my own products for interiors. I work on films. I work in costume embroidery and breakdown. The embroidery is a decoration which is applied onto the costume this can be machine embroidery, hand embroidery, fabric manipulation and beaded. What is breakdown? Breakdown is a process where you are ageing the costumes to give it a life and to make it feel lived in and give the costume a character. Most costumes are made to fit the actor or actress dimensions and so are made in new fabrics. How is this created by washing, dyeing, manipulating, sanding, spraying and dry brushing, which is actually painting onto the cloth. There are a lot of stages to breakdown which people don't appreciate or realise happens to a costume before it is even filmed on. Here are some examples of both embroidery and breakdown which I have been working on for a #charlieandthechocolatefactory #party #event

Patrick Shearn Kinetic sculpture called Liquid Shard

Wow this is just amazing! Love this suspended sea of delicate silver strands ripples over Pershing Square and casts moving shadows over pedestrians who pass underneath.

The “Liquid Shard” art installation, made from holographic Mylar and monofilament, stretches 15,000 sq ft. across the park and rises and falls like a mystical giant, slithering through the wind.
